Each artist’s book is a unique body and unique is the drawing within it.
The first of a new series of books edited and produced by Tricromia Gallery.
A new project in contrast, to make the book more material and unique, which highlights the dissent towards a superficial usability. The Artist’s Book makes it the Artist, and so he has made available to the latter a container, a medium, to customize freely. The work it contains is a unique and unique body is the specimen within it, Sine Nomine.

Simone Massi with his drawings, with his animations, transports us into a world that is his and that is also mysteriously ours, in which he can show us what we otherwise risked losing. Thus, thanks to him, we enter a place of lost memories, of distant wonders, of suspended moments, of sudden revelations, of links with dreamed images. It does not take us by the hand, it does not accompany us: rather it allows us to whisper that perhaps we have lost something, that a shred of memory could recompose a piece within our mosaic of feelings and emotions that we always carry on, that guides our lives. (Luca Raffaelli)
Other Artist’s Books will follow, each one will be a unique specimen, and it will be its user – the collector who will have chosen it – to decide its fate, making it a painting or the treasure chest, according to his wish.
Description
Massi is a «resistant animator». He resists the sirens of a society where everything must be easy, fast. It resists the digital shortcut, in the name of manual labor. It resists the lack of memory and values. He does it with the weapons of dream and beauty, with solemn simplicity.
He lives in an old country house in the hills of the Marche, far from the world of entertainment and culture «that counts». Yet his films have been selected at festivals in 59 countries around the world, collecting 225 awards, and are considered among the most important of contemporary animation, so much so that the Venice Film Festival in 2012 asked him to create the theme song for the festival. Simone Massi, 44 years old, realizes his own works in solitude and in total independence, drawing every single frame.
